Today’s crafter…Gwen Callow-Jones

Posted by Kylie on Tuesday 3rd March 2015

Today we would like to showcase ‘Gwen Callow-Jones’ who will be exhibiting their collection of textiles, decorations and handmade cards at the Spring craft fair in Hadleigh on the 21st March 2015.  Here’s a little bit about them…

“Ever since my childhood on a farm in Wales I have loved sewing, and in those days made many gifts in patchwork for my own family and friends. More recently I have created a collection of hand sewn little gifts from felt and other materials, my inspiration coming from making traditional sailor’s heart shaped love tokens from the distinctive collars they wore. These are currently on display in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. My collection now also includes handmade Christmas and Easter gifts and items based on traditional children’s stories. So do come and meet me at my stall and see what I have been making.”

‘QueenieDot’ at the Spring craft fair in Hadleigh

We are very pleased to have a ‘Paper Cutter’ showing their craft at the Spring craft fair, here’s a sneak preview…

“Hi, my name is Jo and I am a papercutter.  I love working with paper as it’s such a humble material but yet, from it emerges something quite special.  When papercutting, you always end up with less than you started which appeals to the minimalist in me!  The name for my business and website was inspired by  my two wonderfully creative and lovely Nanas,  Queenie and Dorothy.  I’m also working on a range of greetings cards and a couple more prints that I’ll be bringing with me and also some examples of original papercuts that can be ordered and personalised.”
