Handmade cards at the Spring craft fair in Sudbury this Saturday

Posted by Kylie on Wednesday 27th May 2015

We are pleased to have Sarah Allen at the Spring craft fair this Saturday with her sparkly Rhinestone cards…

“Sparkly handmade cards! I create greeting card designs in rhinestones and all of the stones are individually glued. I still haven’t mastered to capture sparkly twinkliness in a photograph, so come along and see my work for yourself at the Sudbury fair on 30th May. I’ll be offering some special discounts on multiple purchases at the event.”

Handcrafted jewellery at the Spring craft fair this Saturday

Posted by Kylie on Tuesday 26th May 2015

We have a fantastic array of handcrafted jewellery on offer this Saturday at St. Peter’s Church.  Here’s a taste of three of our crafters you can expect to see…

Jigsaw Crafts…“We make handmade jewellery, wine charms, bouquet charms and also handbag charms / key rings to suit all occasions. We also offer a bespoke service to suit your needs such as weddings.”

IMG_5024 Gemz Boutique…“Jewellery making started as a hobby and as I improved my techniques, I decided to begin making pieces that others might enjoy.  I make one-off pieces that will please a wide age group and take orders for items that my customers can put their own mark on.  I am always open to ideas and will discuss your requirements for a bespoke piece that will be very personal to you or whoever you are buying for.”

“This pretty necklace contains 4 large Sodalite Gemstone nuggets spaced with largeTibetan Silver filigree beads.  It is set off with the high gloss Black Beading and mounted on a silver plated chain with a bar and toggle fastening.  The necklace is approx. 18″ in length and would sit beautifully in any outfit neckline and suit any occasion.  Sodalite is a dark blue stone with white calcite interspersed. It is sometimes confused with lapis lazuli as it also has small specks of pyrite in it. The largest deposit of sodalite is in Brazil.  Sodalite is the stone of athletics, as it stimulates endurance. It is said sodalite will harmonize the inner being or the conscious and subconscious mind. Sodalite promotes peace and harmony. Sodalite is extra lucky for writers.”

“This combination beaded necklace details the stunning Red Aventurine faceted rondelles spaced with Tibetan Silver to add some sparkle.  These are supported beautifully by Blue lapis chunky squares.  An unusual statement piece that would suit all occasions, night and day.  The necklace is mounted on an antique silver chain and has a bar and toggle fastening at the back.  Overall length is approx. 18″.  The Aventurine stone is reputed to aid your physical body… bringing vitality to your muscular system… and strengthening your blood. Red Aventurine works on all three lower chakras and is a stone that will aid sexuality, vitality and mental abilities.  Lapis Lazuli is one of the most sought after stones in use since man’s history began. Its deep, celestial blue remains the symbol of royalty and honor, gods and power, spirit and vision. It is a universal symbol of wisdom and truth.”

“This gorgeous bracelet focuses on the purples of the Amethyst.   The five nuggets are different in shape and detail and the Tibetan Silver beading adds sparkle to the piece.   The bracelet is approx. 7.5” in length and has a bar and toggle fastening.  This bracelet would make the perfect finishing touch to evening wear or to dress up any outfit for any occasion.  I have listed an Amethyst Nugget Necklace that would match this piece.  Purple Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate, and soothe, the mind and emotions. It is a semi-precious stone in today’s classifications, but to the ancients it was a “Gem of Fire,” a Precious Stone worth, at times in history, as much as a Diamond.

It has always been associated with February, the month the Romans dedicated to Neptune, their water-god, and is the traditional birthstone of that month.  It is the stone of St. Valentine and faithful love, and signifies ecclesiastical dignity as the Bishop’s Stone. It carries the energy of fire and passion, creativity and spirituality, yet bears the logic of temperance and sobriety.”

“These gorgeous Cornelian gemstone beads really make this bracelet a statement piece.  They are interwoven with Tibetan Silver details that add to their sparkle.  The bracelet has an easy to manage toggle fastening which is also Tibetan Silver.  Length approx. 7.5 – 8.0 inches.  Carnelian captivates. Its bold energy brings a rush of warmth and joy that lingers, stimulating and empowering. Known as a stone of motivation and endurance, leadership and courage, Carnelians have protected and inspired throughout history.”

Susan Croft…  “I have only been making jewellery for 6 months, so quite a novice. But loving it. The sterling silver wrapped rings are £6.50 and can be made with a choice of gem . The cooper is from £3.00 to £14.00.”

‘Graham Lucas’ at Spring craft fair in Sudbury on the 2nd May 2015

Posted by Kylie on Friday 1st May 2015

Graham makes table lamps from reclaimed fence and gate posts, here’s alittle about him…
“Retired late last year and decided to pursue a carpenters hobby. I collect seasoned oak posts which have spent their lives stuck in the ground. Some are almost perfect and some in various stages of rot which makes their colouring interesting. I make these into oak block lamps and can genuinely say that no two are the same. My prices vary from £8 for an oak block lamp ‘sampler’ to £40 lamps if the customer requires all the bells and whistles.  No www for me.”
